Mark Elliott set up DFMA Engineering to provide structural and manufacturing engineering services specifically for small clients. Over forty years ago, right out of high school, Mark worked in a small engineering office in Boone, North Carolina, for an engineer who provided structural analysis for residential builders.
A Return to the Roots of Engineering
With over forty years’ worth of experience in manufacturing of many types, with over twenty-five of those years as an engineer, Mark has hands-on experience in a wide variety of environments. That hands-on experience allows him to engineer realistic, executable solutions that work.
What Sets DFMA Engineering Apart?
DFMA is an acronym that stands for Design For Manufacturing and Assembly, and that is what Mark does, whether it is a solution for truss repair, a new retaining wall, an asphalt shingle, or a blood filtration device (yes, Mark has worked in all of these fields and more).
As a licensed professional engineer, you can be assured that Mark will find a solution to any problem that is practical and meets any applicable codes or standards.
DFMA Engineering, PLLC, is licensed in North Carolina (license number P-1980) by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors and is a member of the Home Builders Assocation of Winston-Salem and the Greensboro Builders Association.

I tell people that I’m a hands-on, nuts-and-bolts engineer. By that, I mean that I don’t work on problems in a superficial manner—I work on them all the way down to the fine details. It’s great to come up with a design on paper, but if it can’t be implemented, it’s of no use.
I operate with the highest integrity. If I’m working for you, I’ll safeguard your interests as if they are my own. Nothing makes me happier than finding solid, practical solutions for my clients and seeing them implemented. If you have an engineering problem, please reach out. I’m here to help. Contact us today.
I have forty years’ worth of hands-on experience in virtually every type of manufacturing, including residential construction. When I provide a solution, you can be assured it works and that it can be executed.
I ensure the quality of my engineering solutions by adhering to building standards, leveraging my professional engineering license and conducting thorough assessments. Each project is approached with precision and attention to detail, ensuring effective and reliable solutions.
Each new engineering project begins with creation of a clear and complete problem statement. I then conduct a thorough analysis to develop a tailored strategy. This is followed by detailed planning and design, ensuring alignment with your objectives and appropriate building standards for an optimal solution.
