What is DFMA? 

DFMA is an acronym that stands for Design For Manufacturing and Assembly. What it means is that individual parts are designed for easy manufacture and so that they can be assembled easily.

I’m an engineer down to my DNA. I design things—all kinds of things—and I think a lot about how they can be made to meet their requirements, how they can be made cheaply and how to ensure that they go together correctly. 

DFMA Engineering is run by me, Mark Elliott, a licensed professional engineer in North Carolina. I have over forty years’ worth of experience in a wide variety of industries.

Some of the industries I have worked in include:

• Cabinets & millwork

• Optical fiber

• Asphalt shingles

• Medical devices

  • Ostomy products

  • Blood filtration devices

  • Physical therapy devices

• Airline seating

I am skilled at equipment and tool design. I design, among other things:

• Machined parts

• Sheet metal

• 3-D printed parts

But it all has to go together and it has to be right the first time. If you scratch the surface, you’ll find a process guy. I’m skilled at

• Quality assurance

• Statistical analysis

• Structural analysis

• Equipment and process validation

This is why I named my company DFMA: because I design for manufacture and assembly.
